Pamella Roland
Pamella Roland (a.k.a. Pamella DeVos, born January 2, 1959) is an American fashion designer and founder of the fashion house pamella roland, known prominently for her elegant eveningwear designs.
Roland debuted her first collection at New York Fashion Week in fall of 2002. pamella roland has since become a label of choice among Hollywood’s elite, including Angelina Jolie,[1] Jennifer Garner,[2] Halle Berry,[3] Eva Longoria[4] and Kim Cattrall.[5]
Early life
After graduating from Michigan State University with a degree in business, Roland built an extensive professional background in marketing and public relations, working for nearly ten years in both corporate and agency environments.
While living in Japan promoting family business interests, she quickly put her expertise to work in support of the arts as a director of public relations efforts for the prestigious National Art Show of the College Women's Association of Japan. Upon returning to the United States, she and her husband continued to build and manage their investments, exploring new opportunities in both business and philanthropy, melding the two whenever possible.
Career
In 2002, Roland entered into the latest chapter of her life with the launch of the pamella roland collection. pamella roland received the prestigious 2003 Gold Coast Award in just its second year of operation.[6] In 2010, Roland was inducted into the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA).[7]
The pamella roland collection is sold at Bergdorf Goodman,[8] Neiman Marcus,[9] Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstrom and other leading retailers across the country and around the world.[10]
Philanthropy
Roland has been a long time member of the Grand Rapids Art Museum (GRAM) Board of Trustees, serving on or chairing a number of committees, including co-chairing major exhibitions of artists ranging from Picasso to Perugino to the Dutch masters. In 2010, Roland was honored with the position of Honorary Life Trustee.[11] Roland was responsible for bringing the Princess Diana Exhibit to the GRAM in spring of 2011.[12]
Roland’s cultural commitments have brought her into top leadership positions with the Grand Rapids Symphony Orchestra and Grand Rapids Ballet.[13] In addition, Roland serves on the Board of Trustees at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York City.[14] In the spring of 2009, Roland accepted a position on the Board of the Children’s Scholarship Fund and in 2011 she was invited by Mrs. Laura Bush to be on the Women’s Advisory Council at the George W. Bush Institute.[15]
